Position Overview
Clicks Midwater is seeking a Shop Assistant / Cashier (Maternity Reliever) to join its dynamic retail team. The main purpose of this role is to provide exceptional customer service, ensure efficient point-of-sale (POS) operations, and support merchandising activities in-store. The position plays a key part in delivering a positive customer experience that reflects the values of the Clicks brand.
The successful candidate will be responsible for executing day-to-day store operations efficiently, handling transactions accurately, and promoting the Clicks ClubCard loyalty program to enhance customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute all operational activities at the point of sale quickly and efficiently.
- Maintain high accuracy when scanning products and processing payments.
- Handle cash, card, and voucher transactions responsibly and in line with company procedures.
- Promote and register new Clicks ClubCard members to achieve store participation targets.
- Inform customers about promotions and special offers to drive sales and satisfaction.
- Deliver professional, friendly, and visible customer service in line with the Clicks brand promise.
- Maintain store appearance by executing merchandising and housekeeping duties.
- Support the store team by ensuring that products are well-stocked and displayed according to company visual standards.
- Keep up to date with new products, promotions, and store events to provide accurate information to customers.
Required Knowledge
- Basic mathematical skills and the ability to perform accurate cash handling.
- General understanding of retail and FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) operations.
- Knowledge of merchandising principles and promotion strategies.
- Awareness of stock management procedures.

Education and Experience
Minimum Education Requirement:
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
Desirable Qualifications:
- At least 50% in Mathematics and 50% in English at Grade 12 level.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role within a retail or FMCG environment is desirable.
- Experience with cash handling, customer interaction, and product merchandising will be an advantage.
