Position Overview
The General Worker – Assistant will support truck drivers and operational teams with loading and offloading of goods and maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment. This role requires physical fitness, reliability, and a strong commitment to workplace safety procedures. The successful candidate will work under supervision and carry out general duties essential to daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
The duties of the General Worker will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assisting truck drivers with the loading and offloading of goods in a safe and efficient manner
- Ensuring that walkways and working areas remain clear and free of debris at all times
- Reporting any maintenance or repair needs to building management or supervisors
- Cleaning and maintaining the entire premises according to company standards
- Supporting environmental cleanliness and hygiene across all workspaces
- Handling equipment and tools used for cleaning and operational support responsibly
- Performing ad hoc duties as required by supervisors or operational needs
- Following all safety procedures and company policies while on duty
Minimum Requirements
Applicants wishing to be considered for this position must meet the following criteria:
- Medically fit and physically capable of performing manual labour
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to assigned duties
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Clean criminal record
- Own reliable transport to and from work
- Ability to safely handle heavy equipment and machinery used in cleaning and operations
- Ability to walk, bend, push, pull, and lift repeatedly during working hours
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, including correct storage and disposal methods
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks efficiently
- Self-motivated with the ability to complete tasks without constant supervision
- Willingness to follow all reasonable instructions from supervisors
- Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4 qualification

Employment Conditions
