The successful candidates will play an important role in ensuring that operational areas, equipment, and surrounding environments are kept clean, safe, and well maintained. Key Duties and Responsibilities

The General Assistant will be responsible for a range of cleaning, housekeeping, and basic maintenance tasks. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing daily housekeeping duties across assigned areas
  • Cleaning and maintaining heavy-duty machinery and equipment
  • General cleaning and upkeep of the yard and surrounding areas
  • Cleaning oil spills and other industrial waste materials
  • Carrying out basic and minor technical or maintenance-related tasks
  • Ensuring work areas are kept neat, tidy, and organised
  • Assisting with general ad hoc duties as required by operational needs
  • Adhering strictly to health, safety, and environmental standards

The role may require working in confined spaces, at heights, and within physically demanding environments.

Minimum Qualifying Criteria

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) qualification
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety regulations
  • Ability to handle basic tools and equipment, including cutting machines
  • Willingness to follow workplace rules and safety procedures
  • Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous but not essential

Working Hours

The standard working hours for this position are:

  • Monday to Thursday: 07h30 – 17h00
  • Friday: 07h30 – 16h00

Employees may be required to work overtime depending on operational requirements.
