Learnership Overview
ArcelorMittal South Africa is offering Production Learnership opportunities for 2026 at its Vanderbijlpark operations. This opportunity is aimed at individuals who have completed Grade 12 and are interested in building a career in the steel manufacturing environment as process operators.
Successful applicants will enter into a 36-month Learner’s Agreement, which combines structured institutional training with practical, on-the-job experience. The learnership follows an outcome-based training model and includes regular assessments to track progress and competency development.
This learnership is designed to equip participants with foundational technical knowledge, practical production skills, and workplace discipline relevant to large-scale manufacturing operations. While the programme provides valuable industry exposure and skills development, permanent employment after completion is not guaranteed.
Training and Benefits
Participants in the Production Learnership will receive structured support throughout the duration of the programme. The learnership bursary covers:
- Approved training and institutional learning costs
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Payment for required institutional training
- Personal insurance during the learnership period
- A monthly learner allowance (market-related)
A contractual training agreement will apply for the full duration of the programme.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this learnership, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A completed Grade 12 (Matric) qualification
- Minimum subject requirements:
- English: 45% or higher
- Mathematics: 40% or higher
OR - Mathematics Literacy: 50% or higher
Preference may be given to applicants who fall within the definition of South African youth (under the age of 35), in line with national youth development objectives.
