Job Overview
TWK Agri is inviting applications for the position of Cashier within the Trade Division at the Howick Retail branch in KwaZulu-Natal. The successful applicant will play an important role in ensuring that customers receive quick, accurate, and friendly service at the checkout point.
The Cashier will be responsible for processing sales transactions, receiving payments, issuing receipts, and maintaining a neat and organised checkout area. In addition to cashier duties, the role also includes assisting with store support tasks such as stocking shelves, pricing products, and taking part in stock counts. This position is suited to someone who is trustworthy, detail-orientated, and able to work efficiently under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties:
- Process customer purchases accurately using tills, scanners, or registers.
- Receive payments by cash, debit card, or credit card.
- Issue receipts, refunds, store credits, or correct change to customers.
- Count money in the cash drawer at the beginning of each shift.
- Ensure there is enough float and change available during trading hours.
- Sort, count, and wrap coins and notes when required.
- Keep records of transactions and maintain balancing sheets.
- Greet customers politely and assist with general enquiries.
- Bag, box, or wrap purchased goods carefully.
- Prepare items or packages for shipment if needed.
- Keep checkout counters clean, tidy, and presentable.
- Refill shelves and mark prices on products or shelves.
- Assist with stock takes and inventory control processes.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12 qualification.
- Computer literacy and ability to work on retail systems.
- Previous cashier experience is preferred.
- Ability to work confidently and accurately with money.
- Good customer service skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Honest, reliable, and responsible attitude.
