Salary & Benefits

  • Basic Salary: R165 564 – R193 476 per annum
  • Estimated Remuneration Package: R242 666 – R278 193 per annum

Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to carry out general maintenance work in both developed and undeveloped public spaces. The role focuses on maintaining parks, open areas, and natural resources to ensure a clean, safe, and environmentally friendly community. The successful candidates will contribute to improving the overall quality and appearance of public environments within the City of Tshwane.


Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
  • Basic literacy (reading and writing skills)
  • Good physical health with no back problems
  • Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and standby when required
  • Must undergo a criminal record check at own cost
  • Willing to provide fingerprints to the Tshwane Metro Police Department
  • Advantage: Previous experience or knowledge in horticultural or gardening maintenance

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general horticultural maintenance in parks and public spaces
  • Clean parks, traffic islands, and surrounding areas
  • Maintain cleanliness in remote and undeveloped open spaces
  • Remove weeds and control invasive or alien plant species
  • Cut and dispose of unwanted vegetation
  • Pick up litter and ensure public areas remain clean and presentable
  • Assist in maintaining horticultural facilities and depots
