Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Merchandiser for their new Shelly Centre store. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that Dis-Chem merchandising standards are maintained while providing excellent customer service.
You will assist with stocking shelves, rotating stock, maintaining displays, helping customers, and ensuring the store remains neat, organised, and fully stocked at all times.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Up to 6 months retail experience
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous:
- At least 1 year retail experience
Duties and Responsibilities
- Restock merchandise to maximise sales
- Ensure stock from storeroom is packed and stored correctly
- Check expiry dates and remove expired products
- Ensure full product ranges are available on shelves
- Rotate stock regularly using FIFO method
- Report low stock, damaged or expired stock to management
- Assist with stock counting and stocktaking
- Follow store layout, merchandising standards and planograms
- Flatten boxes after unpacking and move them to designated areas
- Keep shelves neat, visible, labelled and correctly priced
- Report pricing discrepancies to management
- Stay updated on current and new products
- Build and maintain merchandising displays
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of shelves and storeroom stock
- Assist with loading and off-loading stock
- Mark items without barcodes clearly
- Assist with back shopping
- Help train new employees
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service
- Follow up on out-of-stock customer requests
- Resolve customer stock queries
- Wear correct uniform and badge at all times
- Minimise stock losses by careful handling of merchandise
- Follow company policies, SOPs, health and safety rules
Competencies Required
Essential:
- Good command of the English language
- Presentable appearance
- Good communication with customers, staff and management
- Honest and trustworthy
- Good time management
Advantageous:
- Bilingual
- Knowledge of merchandising standards
- FMCG industry knowledge
- Product and category knowledge
- Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stocktaking
- Ability to report suspicious behaviour involving staff or customers
