General Assistant – Retail Store

Job Purpose:
- To support daily store operations and ensure customer satisfaction.
- To assist customers with product information, purchases, and general enquiries.
- To maintain cleanliness, organisation, and stock levels in the store.

Key Responsibilities:
- Greet customers warmly and offer assistance.
- Provide accurate product information and help customers choose suitable items.
- Promote sales, specials, and offers to customers.
- Handle customer complaints and resolve issues professionally.
- Process payments, including cash and card transactions.
- Issue receipts and handle refunds and exchanges correctly.
- Receive and unpack deliveries.
- Organise stock in the storeroom and on the shop floor.
- Pack shelves neatly and ensure products are always available.
- Restock items quickly when they run out.
- Assist with stock takes and inventory control.
- Ensure correct pricing and report any discrepancies.
- Maintain cleanliness in the store, storeroom, and kitchen areas.
- Dispose of waste properly and follow environmental guidelines.
- Follow all safety, security, and emergency procedures.

Minimum Requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Experience as a General Assistant, General Worker, or General Clerk.
- Must live within 25 km of the job location.
- Must have a clear criminal record.

Preferred Requirements:
- South African citizenship.
- Candidates aged between 18 and 65.
- Previous experience in customer service or retail environment.
- Experience with stock taking and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
