Position Overview

Clicks is seeking a motivated and customer-oriented Shop Assistant / Cashier to join the team at The Odyssey Ballito store. This permanent position plays a key role in ensuring operational excellence at the point of sale (POS) and throughout the store. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering outstanding customer service, maintaining accurate cash handling procedures, supporting merchandising standards, and actively promoting the Clicks ClubCard program.

Key Responsibilities

Point of Sale Operations

  • Accurately scan merchandise and process transactions efficiently.
  • Handle various payment methods, including cash, debit/credit cards, and vouchers.
  • Ensure correct processing of Clicks ClubCard rewards and benefits.
  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail at all times.
  • Balance cash drawer and follow all cash-handling procedures to ensure safety and compliance.

Customer Service Excellence

  • Deliver a friendly, professional, and helpful shopping experience.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Clicks by maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Assist customers with product queries, promotions, and store information.
  • Resolve customer concerns efficiently and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Proactively inform customers about ongoing promotions and special offers.

ClubCard Promotion

  • Encourage customers to join the Clicks ClubCard loyalty program.
  • Explain the benefits of membership clearly and confidently.
  • Achieve store participation targets through proactive engagement.

Merchandising & Housekeeping

  • Maintain high visual merchandising standards according to company guidelines.
  • Ensure shelves are fully stocked and neatly presented.
  • Monitor stock levels and report discrepancies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in assigned areas of the store.

Operational Support

  • Follow store procedures and policies consistently.
  • Support team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Stay informed about product ranges, promotions, and company updates.
  • Contribute positively to team morale and store performance.

Knowledge Requirements
  • Basic mathematical skills for accurate cash handling and transactions.
  • Understanding of retail or FMCG environments (advantageous).
  • Knowledge of merchandising principles and promotional displays.
  • Awareness of stock management procedures.
  • Strong understanding of customer service excellence principles.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) – Essential
  • Mathematics (50%) and English (50%) at Grade 12 level – Desirable

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing retail or FMCG environment – Desirable
