An opportunity has become available for a high-calibre Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver to join Quantum Farm Services within the Consumer Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for the transportation and distribution of goods to various clients, ensuring that deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies.
Purpose of the Role
The primary purpose of the Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver role is to operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles for the transportation of goods while maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and customer service. The role requires a strong understanding of vehicle operation, defensive driving techniques, and load management, as well as the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of logistics and distribution operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
- Preparing the vehicle for each trip, including conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Operating ultra-heavy motor vehicles in a safe, responsible, and lawful manner
- Loading, transporting, and offloading goods according to operational requirements
- Ensuring that all loads are securely fastened before departure
- Opening and closing tarpaulins where applicable
- Ensuring that the vehicle is not overloaded, in compliance with the National Road Traffic Act
- Being responsible for goods during transportation and overseeing or assisting with the offloading process
- Handling and completing all required documentation, including delivery notes and logbooks
- Reporting any vehicle defects, incidents, or emergencies according to company procedures
- Maintaining housekeeping standards for vehicles, uniforms, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Adhering to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety regulations
- Carrying out all reasonable instructions issued by the Supervisor or Management
- Being prepared to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as operationally required
- Dealing with customers in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner at all times
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate
- Minimum Grade 10 literacy level, with the ability to read, write, and communicate verbally and numerically
- Valid Code EC driver’s licence
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP – DGP)
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience driving an ultra-heavy motor vehicle
- Must be 25 years of age or older
- Willingness to work weekends and public holidays
- Clean criminal record
- Proven safe driving record

Working Conditions
