Position Overview
TWK Agri is currently seeking a Driver (Code 14) to join the Trade Division within the Pietermaritzburg Mechanisation business unit. This permanent position is ideal for a reliable and safety-conscious professional with experience operating heavy vehicles and an interest in agricultural equipment.
The primary purpose of the role is to safely transport tractors and implements to and from clients while ensuring compliance with road safety regulations, company policies, and delivery schedules. The successful candidate will also provide professional client service and offer support to internal departments when required.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Operation and Transportation
- Operate a Code 14 truck in a safe, responsible, and professional manner
- Transport tractors, implements, and related equipment to and from client sites
- Ensure that all loads are correctly positioned, balanced, and securely fastened
- Follow planned routes and delivery schedules efficiently
Loading and Off-loading
- Load and off-load tractors and implements with care and attention to safety
- Confirm that equipment is protected from damage during transit
- Ensure compliance with safety standards during loading operations
Documentation and Record Keeping
- Verify all load-related documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain an up-to-date and accurate travel logbook
- Report discrepancies, delays, or incidents in line with company procedures
Client Interaction and Service
- Communicate clearly, professionally, and courteously with clients
- Represent TWK Agri positively at all times
- Address client queries respectfully and refer technical concerns when necessary
Compliance and Safety
- Adhere strictly to road traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections before and after trips
- Identify and report mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly
- Arrange repairs or maintenance through the appropriate internal channels
Operational Support
- Assist the workshop and parts department during free time when required
- Support general operational activities that contribute to business efficiency
- Demonstrate flexibility and teamwork in a dynamic work environment
Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Matric / Grade 12
- Valid Code 14 driver’s licence
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience driving a truck
- Proven ability to operate heavy vehicles safely and responsibly
Advantageous Knowledge
- Familiarity with tractors and agricultural implements
- Previous experience within an agricultural or mechanisation environment
