Job Overview
The SPAR Group invites eligible and motivated South African youth to apply for the 2026/27 National Certificate in Supply Chain Management (NQF Level 5) Learnership. This learnership will be hosted at the SPAR North Rand Distribution Centre in Gauteng and is aimed at unemployed individuals who are interested in gaining practical workplace experience within the supply chain and logistics environment.
The programme combines structured theoretical learning with on-the-job training and is intended to develop foundational skills relevant to supply chain operations in the retail and distribution sector. A total of fifty (50) learners will be selected to participate in the programme for the full duration.
Key Responsibilities and Learning Areas
Successful candidates will be exposed to various supply chain functions within a distribution centre environment. While this is a learning programme and not a permanent employment position, participants may gain experience in the following areas:
- Understanding basic supply chain and logistics processes
- Exposure to warehouse operations and distribution activities
- Supporting inventory control and stock management processes
- Assisting with administrative and record-keeping tasks
- Learning health, safety, and compliance standards
- Participating in structured training sessions and assessments
- Adhering to workplace policies, procedures, and schedules
Learners will be required to attend all training sessions and complete assessments as prescribed by the learnership programme.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria in order to be considered:
- Must have successfully completed Grade 12 (Matric)
- Must be unemployed at the time of application
- Must not be registered for another qualification, learnership, or internship
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 34 years
- Must be able to commit to the full 12-month learnership period
- Must be willing to work and train at the SPAR North Rand Distribution Centre in Gauteng
Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee selection, as applications will be subject to a screening and shortlisting process.
