Position Overview
Eskom Academy of Learning is offering an opportunity for ten (10) Learner Hospitality candidates to join the organisation on a 24-month Fixed-Term Contract based in Midrand. This learner programme is designed to provide structured workplace exposure in a professional hospitality environment while supporting daily kitchen operations and customer service functions. The role is ideal for individuals who have completed a relevant hospitality qualification and are seeking practical experience within a large corporate training institution.
Learners will work under the guidance of the Executive Chef and hospitality management team, contributing to the efficient operation of the kitchen while developing practical, administrative, and interpersonal skills aligned with industry standards.

Purpose of the Role
The primary purpose of the Learner Hospitality role is to assist with the daily operational, administrative, and service-related activities of the kitchen. Learners will gain exposure to food preparation, stock control, customer service, hygiene compliance, and basic management principles. The role supports skills development in line with hospitality industry expectations while contributing to the overall service quality of the Eskom Academy of Learning.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, learners will be expected to perform the following duties:
- Assist with the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food according to approved menus and quality standards
- Support stock control and inventory management, including receiving, storing, and monitoring supplies
- Perform basic administrative tasks, including record-keeping and compliance documentation
- Provide professional customer service to internal stakeholders, staff, and visitors
- Ensure ongoing compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and maintenance requirements
- Participate in the implementation and maintenance of International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) processes
- Contribute to daily kitchen operations to support efficiency and service delivery

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- National Diploma or National N Diploma in Catering Management, Hospitality and Catering Services, or
- Hotel School Qualification at NQF Level 6 with 240 credits

- No previous work experience is required, as this is a learner position
