Position Overview

Curro invites applications for the position of Class Assistant on a temporary or contract basis. The role is suitable for energetic, responsible, and dedicated individuals who enjoy working with young children and supporting classroom activities.

The Class Assistant will work closely with teachers and other staff members to ensure that teaching and learning activities run smoothly. This role is essential in maintaining a positive, structured, and stimulating classroom environment that supports learner development.


Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • A qualification in Early Childhood Development (ECD) is essential
  • Relevant experience in a classroom, school, or childcare environment
  • A clear criminal record, verified through appropriate screening processes

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting classroom operations and learner activities. Key duties include:

  • Assisting the class teacher with daily classroom management and preparation of learning materials
  • Supporting the organisation, cleanliness, and effective use of classroom spaces
  • Taking responsibility for classroom equipment, resources, and stock, ensuring proper care and maintenance
  • Working collaboratively with phase teachers and other staff to ensure continuity and coordination within the learning phase
  • Helping to create and maintain a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment
  • Supporting teaching and learning activities such as reading, writing, numeracy, creative play, and group work
  • Assisting with lesson preparation, classroom displays, record-keeping, and basic administrative tasks
  • Supporting school activities, including cultural events, sports programmes, and community initiatives
  • Participating in extracurricular and sport activities when required
  • Upholding Curro’s values and promoting respectful, consistent, and positive learner behaviour
