Key Responsibilities

As the Cash Office Clerk at RCL Foods Kokstad Depot, you will handle a variety of important financial and administrative duties. Your main responsibilities will include:

1. Daily Receipts Processing
  • Receive and process all credit notes, discounts, and related documents, ensuring proper authorisation.
  • Count all cash received from drivers under the supervision of the camera monitoring system.
  • Capture all transactions accurately in the Driver Cash-Up spreadsheet.
  • Identify and report cash shortages or discrepancies within 24 hours by contacting drivers or their supervisors.
  • Record all cash-ups into the relevant JDE customer accounts in line with company procedures.
  • Process authorised petty cash payments and issue petty cash for approved casual wage expenditures.
2. General Processing and Administration
  • Maintain an up-to-date and well-organised filing system for all financial and administrative documentation.
  • Order and distribute company pre-printed stationery and related materials as required.
  • Assist with general accounting support, ensuring compliance with company standards and audit requirements.
3. Cash Handling and Reconciliation
  • Accurately count, reconcile, and verify all cash received daily.
  • Complete daily banking reconciliations and ensure that all funds are accounted for.
  • Reconcile and monitor transactions through the cash vault machine, ensuring security and transparency in all cash-handling processes.
  • Follow strict company cash control policies to reduce risk and maintain integrity in all financial dealings.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualifications

  • Matric (NQF Level 4 or 5) qualification or equivalent.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a credit control or cash-handling environment.
  • Prior experience in a financial or depot administration role will be advantageous.

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of JD Edwards (JDE) or other ERP financial systems is an added advantage.
  • High level of numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and data integrity.
