Unitrans has announced an opportunity for a General Worker based in Durban (Vector Hammersdale) within its Consumer Division. This permanent role is ideal for a dependable and physically fit individual who enjoys hands-on work, teamwork, and contributing to efficient daily logistics operations.
As a General Worker, you will assist truck drivers with loading and offloading goods, help maintain a clean and safe working environment, and perform general housekeeping and operational duties as assigned by supervisors.
Job Purpose
The main purpose of this role is to support operational efficiency by ensuring that vehicles are loaded and offloaded accurately and safely, and that the workplace remains organized, clean, and compliant with Unitrans safety standards.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the General Worker (UNI251023-1) position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 / Matric (NQF Level 4) qualification is essential.
- Must be medically fit and capable of performing physically demanding tasks.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and responsible.
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
- Must have a clean criminal record.
- Own reliable transport to and from the workplace is required.

- Assist truck drivers with the loading and offloading of goods at various locations.
- Ensure that all loading and offloading processes are completed safely and efficiently.
- Keep outside walkways and loading areas clear of obstacles and debris.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment in and around the premises.
- Report any maintenance or repair issues to building management or supervisors.
- Operate and maintain cleaning tools, equipment, and machinery correctly.
- Handle cleaning materials safely and ensure correct disposal according to company policy.
- Follow all health and safety protocols to reduce risk and prevent workplace injuries.
- Perform ad hoc duties and additional tasks as requested by supervisors.
- Demonstrate teamwork, respect, and commitment to company values in daily activities.
