Professional Bus Driver Skills Programme: 50 Positions Available

Golden Arrow Bus Services is proud to announce an exciting Employment Equity (EEA) Training Initiative, designed to empower and uplift women who are eager to build sustainable careers in the transport industry. As part of our commitment to employment equity and transformation, we are offering 50 training opportunities for candidates who wish to become professional bus drivers.

This programme provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on skills, real workplace experience, and industry-recognised training while being supported by one of South Africa’s leading transport service providers. Women from previously disadvantaged backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

Duration: 3-Year Training Contract

Essential Minimum Requirements
  • To be considered for this programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • Must be unemployed South African citizens from previously disadvantaged groups
  • A valid driver’s licence is advantageous (but not compulsory)
  • Age range: 22 to 30 years old
  • Must have completed Grade 12 (Matric) or higher certificate
  • Must have no criminal record
Duties and Responsibilities of Trainee Bus Drivers:
  • During the programme, trainees will be guided and mentored to gradually take on the responsibilities of a professional Golden Arrow bus driver. Key duties include:
  • Safe Driving: Operate buses responsibly, adhering to all traffic rules, company policies, and road safety regulations.
  • Passenger Care: Provide excellent customer service by ensuring passengers feel safe, comfortable, and respected throughout their journey.
  • Time Management: Maintain punctuality by keeping to scheduled routes and timetables.
  • Route Knowledge: Learn and master designated bus routes, ensuring accurate and efficient transport of passengers.
  • Vehicle Inspections: Conduct daily safety checks and report any mechanical issues promptly to ensure buses remain roadworthy.
  • Professional Conduct: Represent Golden Arrow Bus Services positively by maintaining a professional appearance, attitude, and behaviour at all times.
  • Emergency Readiness: Be trained to handle emergencies, including first aid basics and procedures for evacuations.
  • Continuous Learning: Participate fully in training sessions, practical assessments, and mentorship programmes provided during the 3-year contract.
