Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 10 (Grade 12 will also be accepted).
- Ability to read and write.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Be physically fit and able to perform strenuous cleaning duties.
- Willingness to rotate between wards and departments.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Be honest, reliable, and responsible.
Added Advantages
- One year or more of cleaning experience in a hospital or clinical environment.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices.
- Experience using cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will:
- Clean floors, walls, windows, furniture, beds, lockers, curtains, blinds, doors, and other surfaces.
- Maintain clean hospital corridors, entrances, and outdoor areas.
- Remove and dispose of waste according to hospital waste management procedures.
- Clean staff and patient refrigerators, microwaves, kitchens, and designated equipment.
- Wash dishes, cups, and utensils used in wards and departments.
- Safely use cleaning chemicals and heavy-duty cleaning equipment.
- Clean spills immediately to maintain a safe working environment.
- Refill consumables such as soap, toilet paper, air fresheners, and deodoriser blocks.
- Collect patients’ meals and beverages and prepare tea according to hospital schedules.
- Collect, receive, and pack clean linen.
- Complete daily cleaning records and attendance registers.
- Report maintenance problems, hazards, or shortages to supervisors.
- Perform additional duties assigned by supervisors within the scope of the position.
