Dis-Chem Pharmacies is opening a new store at Kingsburgh Junction and is seeking enthusiastic, customer-focused individuals to join the team as Frontshop Assistants. As a Frontshop Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring excellent customer service while maintaining high merchandising and operational standards on the sales floor. This role is ideal for candidates who are detail-oriented, reliable, and passionate about working with customers in a fast-paced retail environment.


🎯 Key Responsibilities
1️⃣ Merchandising and Stock Control
  • Ensure shelves are fully stocked and attractively displayed at all times
  • Monitor product expiry dates and rotate stock according to company procedures
  • Restock merchandise to maximise sales opportunities
  • Ensure pricing, labels, and promotional signage are accurate and up to date
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and tidy storeroom
  • Assist with stocktaking and stock file counts
  • Report low, damaged, or expired stock to management promptly
2️⃣ Customer Service Excellence
  • Provide friendly, helpful, and professional service to all customers
  • Address customer queries promptly and escalate issues when necessary
  • Follow up on out-of-stock items in line with store procedures
  • Report customer compliments and complaints to management
  • Build and maintain positive customer relationships
3️⃣ Point of Sale & Cash Handling
  • Process transactions accurately (cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and other approved payment methods)
  • Handle exchanges and returns when authorised
  • Process loyalty cards and partner programmes
  • Ensure all cash handling procedures are followed, including drop safe requirements
  • Maintain accurate daily takings and ensure proper documentation
  • Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved by management
4️⃣ General Store Operations
  • Assist with loading and off-loading stock deliveries
  • Ensure outgoing stock is scanned and paid for
  • Flatten boxes after unpacking and place them in designated areas
  • Adhere to housekeeping and health & safety standards
  • Support team members and assist with training when required
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and uniform guidelines

✅ Minimum Requirements
Essential:
  • Grade 12 (Matric / Senior Certificate)
  • 0โ€“6 months retail work experience
  • Basic understanding of retail operations
  • Good numerical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
  • South African citizen
  • Clear criminal and credit record (MIE verification)
  • Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
Advantageous:
  • 1 year retail experience
  • Retail Business Management certification
  • Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • SAP knowledge
  • Driverโ€™s license and reliable transport
